Course Description

The purpose of the course is to teach the different genres of children’s literature in education.  Also teachers will learn about the role of literature in children’s reading.  This course will introduce the different genres of literature. It will demonstrate the role of literature in children’s reading.  Students will apply this to 15 children’s literature book reviews.

No prerequisites required

Outcomes/Objectives

Students will become familiar with children’s literature.

Students will summarize and research 15 children literature books.

Students will apply literature research to a child study of an adolescent reading literature.

Course Activities

Quizzes

Quizzes will be posted weekly related to the week’s module and weekly activity presented.

Discussions

Discussions allow an open forum for the subject being discussed during the week.  This will allow opportunity for students and teacher to discuss and network with other classmates. Initial posting will be on Wednesday of each week and two replies by Saturday.

 

Book Reviews

Book reviews will be submitted for 15 children’s books.  The review will be submitted per the rubric and instructions given.

Course Policies

Participation in Discussion

Class participation is a very important part of the learning process in this course.  Students are required to present their qualified and valid points related to the question presented weekly.

Quizzes

Quizzes will be available Monday thru Sunday.  No late quizzes will be accepted.
