Course Description
Supplemental Music Theory 1: is designed to supplement the music performance classroom by providing students with understandings in music theory concepts.
This course covers the development of music reading skills by identifying key concepts, landmarks, and notes of various clefs by their note name and octave position.
Course Objectives
At the completion of the course, the students will be able to:
- Identify Key Concepts for music notation
- Identify Middle C by note name and octave position
- Identify notes of the treble clef by note name and octave position
- Identify notes of the bass clef by note name and octave position
- Identify notes of the grand staff by note name and octave position
Required Materials
- Access to a computer with internet access (preferably high speed). Mobile devices will not be compatible with all materials. Your computer must have the latest version of Flash Player

Class Format
This course is an asynchronous online course. You may log in and complete assignments at your own discretion. However, there are weekly assignments that must be completed by midnight on the assigned due date. Failure to complete assignments on time will be subject to the late assignment policy (listed below).
