Course Syllabus
Course Description:
This course is designed to demonstrate the effects strife has upon humanity focusing primarily on culture, individual people and the land itself. The learner will follow the effects five various conflicts throughout history beginning with the Spanish Conquest and ending with World War 1. Each unit will be conducted solely online and the learner will be required to complete the offline requirements as well. The learner must participate in individual and group activities and complete a community connection project at the end of each unit.

Modules
This class is divided into five main modules attached the overarching theme . The learners will only be able to access one main module at a time. The main modules are broken down into smaller modules. Some of these can be completed simultaneously and some are sequential. Pay attention to the availability dates to determine the difference.
Main Modules:
- Spanish Conquest (1519 - 1541)
- French Revolution (1792 - 1802)
- Mexican American War (1846 - 1848)
- Civil War (1861- 1865)
- The Great War (1914 - 1918)
Attendance and Lateness:
Participation in lectures, discussions, and other activities is an essential part of the instructional process. Learners are expected to attend ALL classes; those who are compelled to miss class meetings should inform their class facilitator of the reasons for absences. Missing more than 1 class, or being late frequently can negatively impact your grade.
Professionalism:
Learners will be expected to conduct themselves as professionals. As such, learners will be expected to:
- Attend class punctually and regularly
- Be prepared for each class session
- Participate in all class discussions, activities and communities of practice
- Communicate with class peers as well as the class facilitator
- Review the website daily to be aware of all activities, grades and information
Assessments :
A learner who must miss an assessment or any due date should notify the class facilitator in advance. If it is not possible to notify the class facilitator in advance, please send in notification as soon as possible. If the absence is justifiable, the instructor may permit a deferred examination.
