Course Syllabus

Basic Unmanned Aerial Systems Course

The course will consist of 12 sessions. Each session will be taught in the classroom, however, the slide deck for that session will be made available immediately following the session. Attendance of each session is highly encouraged as our FAA commercial exemption requires a set number of hours prior to DividedSky Aerial Solutions being designated a Flight Safety Officer (FSO).

While the material is not especially complicated it is complex and each session builds upon the previous ones.

Materials required for the readings are provided for you in the DividedSky Aerial Solutions GDrive. This drive is only accessible via an emailed link.

The course will be graded through seven online quizzes (280 points), two simulator practical exercises (200 points), a land navigation practical exercise (100 points) and a final exam (420 points) for a total of 1000 possible points. Students must achieve a minimum of a 70% on each graded activity and therefore a cumulative grade of at least 70% of the points possible. For each activity that a 70% is not achieved the student will be given the opportunity for a retest.

Each student will be required to purchase a Syma X11 R/C Quadcopter. You can purchase it at Amazon

Successful completion of this course is a requirement for all DividedSky Aerial Solutions employees that will be involved with flight operations.

Follow on courses include Aviation Radio Procedures, FAA Ground School Preparation, Advanced Land Navigation, UAV Basic Pilot Course, Advanced Flight Operations, UAV Maintenance and Repair Operations, and Sensor Operator Certification.

Please feel free to contact me via my contact information should you have any questions.

Enjoy the course!

Sincerely,

Todd Boward
