COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Swinging Chandeliers: Analysis of a popular song.

COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: 

This lesson is designed to help students not just listen to music but to listen to the lyrics and try to understand what the author is trying to say. Students will work on analyzing meanings to songs and create lyrics to a song that have a personal meaning for other students to analyze.

COURSE ASSESSMENTS:

  1. Participation in discussions: viewed content, initial posts, and reply to 2 students.
  2. Participation in assignments: Write own lyrics to a song, analyze a song of personal reference, share with peers, and analyze two students’ songs to understand the meaning behind the lyrics.

COURSE CONTENT:

Discussions: 60 points total, 15 points each

Assignments: 100 points total, 20 points each

Final Assignment: 40 points

A= 200-160 points

B= 159-120 points

C= 119-80 points

D= 79-40 points

F= 39-0 points
