Meeting Dates/Times:

This class will meetJune 12, 19, and the 26.  Along with August 7th.  All the days are Thursdays!  The times are 10-11:30.

 

 Course Description:

In this class students will learn what is health, what does it mean to be healthy, and also what to do when health problems happen.  We will focus on seven main points.  The main focus areas will be Emotional Health, Personal Care, Nutrition, Fitness, Alcohol/Tobacco/Drugs, Reproduction, and Public Safety.  We will cover each topic for one week.  There will be short assignments that go along with each topic that are to be done using the internet.  There will also be a quiz to go along with each topic that must be done with no resources.  On the final day of class Thursday 8/7 we will meet and take the final exam.  This will be a cumulative test, which means it assesses the student’s knowledge in everything we covered. 

 

Materials:

On the days we meet for class students will need to wear athletic type clothes.  We will be doing some fitness type activities so it is important to be comfortable.  Students will also need an Ipad or laptop along with a notebook and pencil. 

On the weeks we are not meeting as a class students will just need to be able to have internet access to complete work online.   

 

Assessment:

The class will be graded on a total point system.  All assignments are worth five points.  Each week there can be anywhere from 2-5 assingments.  Each week there will also be a 20 point quiz.  The final exam at the end of the class will be worth 100 points.

A 93 - 97.9% B 83 - 85.99% C 73 - 75.99% D 63 - 65.99%

A- 90 - 92.99% B- 80 - 82.99% C- 70 - 72.99% D- 60 - 62.99%

F 0 - 59.99%

 

Makeup Work:

If a student is absent from class they must communicate with the teacher! If you know in advance please contact me and an assignment can be given early. If it is after absence there will also be an assignment. Communicate with me to make sure nothing is missed. I will allow make-up work for one week after absence. After one week it will be worth half of the original points and more than one week late will result in an automatic 0.
