Data representation and interpretation

Identify a question of interest based on one categorical variable. Gather data relevant to the question (ACMSP048)

• students are to access and online pizza catelogue and determine their preference. They are then to  interview their family and at least 10 friends and table the results.

Collect,check and classify data (ACMSP049)

• students are to records preferences using tally marks
• students are to sort pizza preferences into different categories

Create displays of data using lists, table and picture graphs and interpret them (ACMSP050)

• students are to graph their information on a pie graph.
• students are to graph information on a bar graph

Extension could be to ask probability of having a certain pizza over another.

Extension could be to ask which graph student thinks displays the information more clearly.

Extension could be to include a price for each pizza and ask student to calculate how much change they would receive from $100 if they bought all their favourite pizzas.
