COURSE TITLE: Driver Education INSTRUCTOR: Coach Drew (706...........) DESCRIPTION: A one semester course designed to promote personal and social responsibility in the safe use of motor vehicles. The course offers both class and field opportunities for driver and traffic safety. OBJECTIVES: The learner will be able to demonstrate knowledge of driver education by: 1. The relevance of what content is being taught in each lesson, but also why it is being taught. 2. Students will be actively involved by participating in teacher-led and small group discussions, by projecting themselves into specific driving situations. 3. Student will be placed into specific driving situations and given the opportunity to brainstorm solutions to realistic driving problems and challenges. 4. Emphasis on the dangers of alcohol and other drugs will be made clear to students, as well as other extreme hazards while driving. 5. Students will be faced with the challenges of integrating instructional content with actual behind-the-wheel driving.
