COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course emphasizes activities and techniques through project management that develops competencies needed to become a successful leader. Students receive instruction and project-based activities in the areas of entrepreneurship, project management, personal and workplace skills, oral and written communication techniques, and networking.
This is an activity-based course, and as such, participation will give the students the opportunity to learn new skills and improve on existing skills by actually doing the skill. As a business related course, it provides students with the opportunity to research problem areas, develop and present formal presentations addressing those identified problem areas and learn through the experience of others.
The projects give all students the opportunity to develop, design and participate in various activities geared at learning business hard & soft skills that are sought after by employers.
Here’s the Plan:
- You and your team will meet with local business owners, analyze their business operation, then apply the technology required to expand and improve their business through an improved and more effective marketing program utilizing the internet.
- While honing your skills in technology and the internet, you will learn what is required to successfully market and manage a business. You will also make valuable contacts for possible future employment.
- You are not alone. You are part of a team with support from you instructor, your teammates and your school. This will be an enjoyable and very practical learning experience for you.
It’s a Team Approach:
Virtual Enterprise (VE) module: is a business simulation where students experience the business world by creating and operating virtual firms.
