Start Here:
In this course, we are going to focus on types of activities best suited for blended learning environments. We will discuss the taxonomy of media for blended learning as well as instructional strategies supporting both synchronous and asynchronous media. Finally, we will share best practices for application and assessment.

Learning Objectives
At the end of this module you will be able to:

  • Explain the taxonomy of media for blended learning;
  • Experiment with different media tools available in blended learning environments that support differing instructional strategies;
  • Develop learning objectives and outcomes for a blended learning environment;
  • Design one blended learning activity.

Description of Seminar Activities and Requirements
In order to successfully complete the learning objectives, you will be given several activities to complete each week. You will evaluate your own progress; you will be asked to complete a self-assessment of the following course activities:

Participation:

Active participation is crucial to the successful completion of a blended or online course. Successful participation is evidenced by active involvement in ongoing discussions. It involves providing thoughtful feedback to your peers, responding to the instructor's questions and posting your required materials on time. See the Participation Rubric in the Seminar Overview folder in Modules for details on evaluation.

Using Canvas and Web Tools:

Each week you will have various tasks to complete. By completing these tasks, you will demonstrate your ability to use various tools in Canvas and on the web.

Online Self-Assessment:

You will be asked to assess your participation at the end of each week.
