Certification Description
This course focuses on the installation and administration of network communication systems. Students will learn the general theory of network communications and basic setup, configuration, and management of network communication protocols on networking devices, including servers, routers and switches. An added benefit included with this course is CompTIA's revolutionary new study tool, CertMaster, which will help you succeed on your exam. This comprehensive course is preparation for the CompTIA Network+ exam, and will develop your foundational skills in computer hardware and software.

This Network+ certifications measure not just what you know, but what you can do and measures your ability to perform real-world tasks based on the following objectives:

Texts & Supplies
Three textbooks will be sent to you or available for pick-up when you sign up for the Cyber Academy course. For this course you'll be using the following materials:
- LabSim – TestOut Network Pro
Course Dates and Length
This is an in-class and self-paced, competency based course and is scheduled to start Jan 2nd at 6:00 pm and run through Feb 27th. If you are not able to meet the class sessions you can access Canvas and complete the course work fully online. Your instructor may setup Skype or similar sessions for you to attend virtually. You sign into Canvas to complete this certificate's sections and assessments at your own pace but you must stay in-sync with the classroom schedule and your hours of attendance will be tracked in TestOut session.
Course Mode
This is an online and classroom course. Classroom time is augmented by content and activities that take place in a managed online classroom. However, the contact hours are flexible and assignments and communication can take place at home or any place with a computer and Internet access. This certificate program does not require campus visits.

Student Learning Objectives
Upon successful completion of the course, the participant will be able to:
- Set up a networked computer system, including the operating system, interface cards, and peripheral devices.
- Plan and install a small business network and connect it to the Internet.
- Verify and troubleshoot network and Internet connectivity.
- Share resources such as files and printers among multiple computers.
- Recognize and mitigate security threats to a small business network.
- Configure and verify common Internet applications.
- Configure basic IP services through a GUI.
