Career Decision Making Tools is a course is designed to help anyone build self-awareness and knowledge of careers. The course is offered by the Holland Codes Resource Center.

Core Course Objectives:
You will be able to -
- Gain awareness of RIASEC or Holland Codes
- Understand the relationship between Holland Codes and student's likes/ dislikes
- Identify student’s primary Holland Code
- Discover several ways to classify occupations
Learning Outcome:
By the end of the course, you will have an overview of the Holland Codes, careers, and college majors.
By the end of the course, you will be able to do the following activities -
- State a definition of RIASEC or Holland Codes
- Identify Holland Codes
- Match career to Holland Code
- Describe a career that interests them
- List potential post-secondary training programs
Activities
Step 1: Read the files in the Introduction module.
Step 2: Read the Assignments and Discussions -
- Build Self Awareness
- Understand Career Interest Groups – What do the scores mean?
- Know RIASEC Personalities
- Selecting the Right Training Program
- Career Planning – Putting the Pieces Together
Step 3: Complete the RIASEC Inventories -
Step 4: Finish Career Match Making Using Interests activities.
Step 5: Use Research a Career Tool.
Step 6: Build list of potential careers
Step 7: Perform Search for College Tool.
Step 8: Make a list of potential college majors.
Step 9: Complete other Career Planning activities.
