Course Syllabus
This is an online course; all the instructions for the course is integrated into each of the 9 instruction modules which are located in the menu to the left and listed as "FILES". The course requires each student to complete the 9 modules and 9 online assignments which correspond to each module, and 4 discussion assignments. Directions for the online assignments are located at the end of each training module and require the student to login to the Workforce Connects webpage.
NOTICE: all questions in each of the 9 modules need to be answered even though they will not be submitted on canvas nor will they be graded. It is suggested that you answer all questions in each module and save them to a file and insert/highlight notes as you go along so you will have them to study for the final exam and challenge exam.

GRADE / EVALUATIONS
The student will be given a Pass/Fail grade after completing (1) 9 modules, (2) 9 online assignments which correspond to the 9 modules, (3) 4 discussion submissions, and (4) the final exam for the course.
- Completion of 9 modules & online assignments will compose 25% of the grade
- Discussion submissions will compose 40% of the grade.
- The final exam will compose 35% of the grade.
FINAL EXAM
After the instructor has verified completion of all assignments on the Workforce Connects Webpage, the final exam will be opened up for the student; each student is allowed two attempts to pass the final exam.After completing all modules/assignments, the student will need to message the instructor requesting arrangements to take the final exam. After completing the final exam, the student will be given a complete/incomplete grade for the course according to the grade scale.

ONLINE ASSIGNMENTS
The last page of each training booklet will tell you which assessment you need to do to complete that particular booklet. The instructor will give you a username and password for the online assignments.

- Go to workforceconnects.com
- At the top right of the screen, click “User Login.”
- Type in your user name and password that the instructor gave you
- At the bottom right of the screen, click “Enhance Your Skills.”
- Click “Tools for Workplace Success.”
- Click “Go.”
- Do Lesson 2.1, “Interacting with Others,” and complete the quiz at the end.
- Do Lesson 2.2, “Active Listening,” and complete the quiz at the end.
- Do Lesson 2.3, “Effective Speaking,” and complete the quiz at the end.
CHALLENGE EXAM FOR COLLEGE CREDIT
- Once the instructor tells the student that the course is completed, then the student will email Kim Smith at kcsmith@nemcc.edu to request a seat for the challenge exam for college credit.
- Each student is allowed to take the challenge exam no more than two times.
- There is no fee to attempt the challenge exam
- After a student passes a challenge exam, the student has the option to pay a $50.00 transcript fee for the class to be listed as "Z-grade" credit on the NEMCC transcript (ask instructor about available scholarships to pay this fee).
- Z-grades can apply toward a Associate degree/Certificate program at NEMCC which requires this particular course.
- No Z-grades are transferable at this time, although strives are being made for this to be possible in the future.
- Up to 15 hours of college credit by challenge exams can be applied toward a degree at NEMCC.
