UNIT 7: [Life Science] Genes - “I Look Just Like You”

Learning Objectives:

This unit will examine the difference between inherited traits and learned behaviors. Students will research and poll each other about specific inherited traits and learn about the role genes play in the transfer of traits. Students will gain a deeper understanding of these two concepts by looking at examples that are found in nature.

 

Standards Taught and Assessed:

S5L2. Students will recognize that offspring can resemble parents in inherited traits and learned behaviors.

1. Compare and contrast the characteristics of learned behaviors and of inherited traits.
2. Discuss what a gene is and the role genes play in the transfer of traits.
