Our level One Ayurveda Health Counselor program consists of a total of 12 coursework modules and 1 internship module. It provides students a thorough understanding of basic Ayurvedic concepts followed by an internship program focusing on maintenance of health and wellness for patients. The approval process (including the internship) takes approximately 78 weeks (1.5 years) to 104 weeks (2 years) to complete including the internship. Students must take the National Ayurvedic Medical Association board exam in order to achieve the status of "Board Certified Ayurvedic Health Counselor." Successful completion of Level One prepares students to provide basic Ayurvedic counseling, take detailed current and past personal and family health history, determine the causes of imbalance and assess the physical/mental constitution and current state of health using Ayurvedic diagnostic methods. The Ayurvedic Health Counselor will provide public education regarding basic tenets of Ayurveda and recommend specific foods, lifestyle practices, daily routines, digestive herbs, yoga, self-care strategies, etc. that pertain to individual clients. For a comprehensive examination and treatment of pathology or for yoga therapy or panchakarma, AHC’s refer clients to a Certified Ayurvedic Practitioner intern or board certified Ayurvedic Practitioner, therapeutic yoga teacher and/or a Certified Panchakarma Therapist (for panchakarma).
