Technology in the Library Sciences

This course aims to provide students with a comprehensive study of the use of technology in libraries and information centres.  Students will also learn about the computerization of technical services in libraries, the use of computers in user services and their management and support staff.

 COURSE OUTCOMES:

 Upon successful completion of this course, you should be able to:

  1.  explain ways in which technology is used in Libraries and Information Centres
  2. identify the types of library information systems and their functions
  3. apply computer technology in the library environment
  4. use technology in libraries to carry out various functions in the library (database management of cataloguing records)
  5. display competence in utilizing library technology to provide and access library resources and services
