Getting Started
Now that you've learned a little bit about Mobile Learning and the two OSs commonly used on mobile devices, it's time to learn more about these operating systems and the devices they are found on through hands-on experience. To do this you will use both an iOS device and an Android device of your choice.
Instructions
1. If you own an iOS device, you will need to find an Android device to use for this assignment. If you own an Android device, procure an iOS device. If you don't have a mobile device, you will need to get your hands on both. You are welcome to use a friends device or you can check out either device from the TEC Lab.
I recommend you use tablets (iPad for iOS and whatever Android tablet you'd like, such as the Transformer Prime) for this assignment as they have larger screens and more processing power. However, you can use smartphones if you have trouble getting a hold of tablets.
2. Spend some time getting to know each device, or at least the device you do not own. Try navigating around the device. Look for things like settings, both on the device itself and within apps. Try using some of the apps and see if you like the interface. If you can find the same app (like Facebook) on the two different OSs, see how the apps compare. Which interface do you like better? Try looking for a new app. As you explore both OSs, consider the following questions:
- What do you like and dislike about Android?
- What do you like and dislike about iOS?
- Which platform do you like better? Why?
- What is the most important aspect you look for when choosing a device for your class?
These videos may also help you as you form opinions about each operating system.

3. Once you feel you can answer these questions for both devices, take this "OS Quiz" where you will provide your answers to the questions above. Remember, these are your opinions based on your experience, but you are welcome to include information from this week's videos if you feel it has influenced your opinion.
