TEDxKinda Project Launch

Today, you will learn about your project for Big Data—the TEDxKinda Project. For the TEDxKinda project, you will conduct original research using big data analysis techniques, and present what you learn in a dynamic TED-like talk. Over the course of the unit, you will learn about the prevalence of big data and how that data is collected, stored, and analyzed.

First, visit the Big Data KWL Chart. Do you have any ideas or questions that you would like to add to the K(now) or W(ant to know) sections, yet?. Edit the document with your teacher and classmates to reflect these ideas.

Next, visit the the TEDxKinda Project description. As you watch the anchor video and read the project description: write down at least one thing you “Know” and one thing that you “Want to know” about the upcoming project. Be prepared to share your thoughts with the class.

Group Organization

Once you are in your groups, complete the TEDxKinda Group Contract assignment, submit the contract with the teacher, and share it with one another. Three suggested group roles are included on the group contract template. Refer to the PBL Group Roles document for additional group role suggestions, or identify your own.
